Before There Was Lube for the Lips®, There Were Bees

Long before there was Essential Journeys®, before there was Lube for the Lips®, there were bees.

This is my dad in our backyard in the early 1980s. Growing up, I watched him care for his hives with incredible patience. We also had a huge vegetable garden, and just beyond our backyard was a florist with acres of flowers. It was a wonderful place for honeybees.

Years later, when I created my first batch of Lube for the Lips®, using beeswax felt like a natural connection to something I had grown up with.

More than twenty years later, beeswax is still at the heart of every tube we make.

Looking back at this photo reminds me that some of the best ideas don’t start in a laboratory. Sometimes they begin in your own backyard.
